Founded in 1853, the parish of St. Mary Help of Christians has served diligently to spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ for over 150 years to the people of Aiken, South Carolina. For 2,000 years, the Catholic Church has proclaimed the Paschal Mystery – the Passion, Death, and Resurrection of Jesus Christ. This same proclamation is the heart of our mission here at St. Mary’s for over 160 years.  On this page, you will find information on our past, present, and future endeavors to spread the Gospel to new generations.

Loving God, welcome into your arms the victims of violence and terrorism. Comfort their families and all who grieve for them, even after many years. Give us your grace to dispel our fear and uncertainty, and bless us with the knowledge that we are secure in your love. Soften the hearts of those who would threaten us with acts of terror that they may know your love and turn from violence. Strengthen all those who work for peace, and may the peace the world cannot give reign in our hearts. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.
