facebook.comOn a 4-0 vote (Mayor Pro Tem Wright absent) the Council approved the Fiscal Year 2017-18 budget last evening and in the process, the city of Adelanto is ALREADY $400,000 in the "black," compared to YEARS of being in the "red." As revenues begin to filter in from the medical cannabis industry, the city's revenues are only expected to increase--which will result in greater services benefiting the residents of Adelanto.

According to Adelanto Mayor Richard Kerr the City of Adelanto desires to have a mutually productive and positive relationship with the Nation of South Korea and in the process, support President Donald Trump’s desire to create industrial jobs. Kerr cited that jobs and investments are coming to the City of Adelanto as evidenced by South Korean-American Aircore Cookware’s $45 million dollar investment creating 250 full-time jobs. Mayor Richard Kerr recently led a city contingent to meet with Lee Key Cheol, the Consul General of the Nation of South Korea who through his efforts has demonstrated his country’s determination to work continually and cooperatively with the City of Adelanto to create development opportunities. Kerr said after the visit that “the City of Adelanto and Nation of South Korea has and will continue to strengthen its partnership for the mutual benefit of both South Korea and the United States, and in the process set an example of diplomatic cooperation.” IN THE PHOTO: Adelanto reps meet with South Korean Consul General Left to right: Peter Park, AirCore Cook Ware President; Adelanto Mayor Richard Kerr; Lee Key Cheol, Consul General of the Republic of South Korea, Jessie Flories, Adelanto Municipal Economic Development Services; Michael Milhiser, Adelanto City Manager and Hanso Kim, High Desert Korean Chamber of Commerce President.
July 1, 2017 Adelanto increases fire protection and paramedic service Staff and equipment reassigned in 2013 returns in new location July 1 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE ADELANTO—just prior to the start of Fiscal Year 2013-14 on July 1, 2013, the City of Adelanto shuttered Fire Station 321—and three Fire Fighters in the process—due to fiscal constraints, leaving a void in fire protection for the city. That was then, this is now—as of July 1, 2017 an additional Captain, Engineer and Fire Fighter Paramedic will augment existing staff and operate out of Station 322 on Rancho Road. “Our Council told the residents that public safety is a top priority and since our fiscal status has improved, this action shows us living up to this priority,” said Mayor Richard Kerr. After four-years of non-use, the engine that was previously assigned to Station 321 required updating of its fire and medical equipment at a cost of approximately $30,000. “But that figure pales in comparison when you consider the cost for a new Type 1 engine is about $720,000,” Kerr added. “There are 6,000 calls for service annually in Adelanto, by increasing the staff 100% and adding an additional engine will reduce response times and residents won’t have to wait for help to arrive from a neighboring city if assistance was needed,” said Dan Mejia,San Bernardino County Fire Assistant Chief. Mayor Rich Kerr was on hand at 9 a.m. this morning to greet new staff Captain Greg Breiner, Engineer Robert Myers, Mayor Kerr and Fire Fighter paramedic Chris Tucker.
