Landscape Artist : Printmaker. Working in a Charcoal and a hand carved woodblock printing technique based on Japanese Sosaku Hanga (Creative Print) style As an artist I love working in charcoal because it strips out colour so that hidden shapes, patterns, textures and tones leap out of the picture as it evolves. Using this Chiaroscuro technique means I can take people on a visual journey through the countryside which so inspires my work. I've developed and use this way of working in my woodblock printing based on the Japanese Sosaku Hanga (Creative Print) style and techniques of hand carved image making and printing. I use traditional Japanese tools and materials as much as possible in my work.
