-The Chocolate Block- The Wine with secrets to keep. 'Syrah (79%), Grenache Noir (11%), Cabernet Sauvignon (6%), Cinsault (3%) and Viognier (1%). Due to the looming drought conditions, yields were much lower, resulting in higher berry concentration and healthier grapes. Phenolic ripeness was easily achieved, with the harvesting of grapes taking place earlier, during the cooler stages of the harvest period. The increased volume of Grenache Noir in the blend enhances the flavour profile significantly, with Syrah being our structural backbone. The Grenache was matured in 600L barrels to retain its unmistakable fruity aromas and vibrancy. The wine matures in 1st (all of the Cabernet Sauvignon), 2nd and 3rd fill French oak barrels as well as 2500L French oak foudres for 16 months before it undergoes a light egg-white fining and filtration. 1 979 barriques were selected for our 2016 vintage.' #XmasatFiftySixday16 15% off today!

Cabaret Frank, no.2 : 'A smooth, medium bodied and easy drinking wine that strikes a lovely balance with its blackberry, plum and dark cherry fruit characters coupled with classic varietal leafy tones. Made predominately from Old Vine Cabernet Franc (85%), the balance being a harmonious blob of sibling Cabernet Sauvignon. The story and overall package may be light-hearted, but the wine inside is as ever, seriously good with oodles of drinkability!' 15% off until midnight #XmasatFiftySixDay15

-Picpoul de Pinet, Petite Ronde- 'Picpoul is one of the oldest indigenous grapes of the Languedoc region; its use recorded in the 17th century. Today it is most famous for the wines produced around the village of Pinet, which is close to the coast, just west of Sète. Unoaked the wine shows a good level of freshness for a wine from such a warm climate, with a citrussy and stone fruit character highlighted with floral notes.' #XmasatFiftySixday13 15% off today

The wine is a brilliant crimson colour and has a most inviting nose of wild red fruits and fresh peppers. -Chalk Hill Barbera, McLaren Vale- "A hugely concentrated Barbera which comes dressed in a dark, vibrant purple-red robe. The nose shows lifted floral, cherry and redcurrant fruit with savoury-spice notes and a hint of violet. The palate is bright with a racy acidity which shows red fruit to the fore and floral and spice notes to the rear, the fine lingering tannins add to the crisp finish. The Barbera vines are planted at the top of Chalk Hill on a sand over limestone and ironstone. Only second and third use French oak is used in the form of relatively large hogshead and puncheon barrels to add only minimal oak flavours whilst encouraging integration of the wine's components." #XmasatFiftySixday10 15% off today!
