Following an awesome thank you card from Kensington Palace about the Scrap Bear for Baby Archie I have been making more of them for each of their charities. ❤️♻️❤️ It’s so freeing using your top stash bestest scrap fabrics! I’ve really had some great days off sewing, resting, re-reading Toni Morrison and a bit of Tolle and enjoying quality time with my beautiful teenager, remember it’s just us at home and I work outside of running the store to take care of our household. So now to get back to the waste business, although Re-imagine is like having a giant teenager, who keeps changing their mind about who he/ she wants to be, never cleans their room, wants to be driven around everywhere to collect things and drop off stuff and not quite pulling their weight financially but who’s heart is definitely in the right place. 😆❤️🤣❤️ I’ve had a good rest but following another load of tests and procedures hopefully to make my Lupus easier and anyone who deals with a Chronic Illness knows it’s not just dealing with the awful symptoms but new diagnosis and new meds are also always constantly part of the deal and to say last the winter of collecting from the surplus food from the Supermarkets was hard is an understatement, but it was important. My bestest van finally died a few weeks ago and it was tricky to find the cash to get another cheap automatic vehicle and of course I feel the responsibility of all the families I have met along the way in this year long journey of the Community Larder. Amazingly The Lighthouse Church LuvEly has opened their doors for everyone to collect surplus food and I’ve always said a Community Fridge was much more necessary in town and I wish them every success in offering our community a great service but because we weren’t aware they would be giving away free the same food that goes to the Re-imagine Pantry (which we are charged for every week) that Pantry model won’t work and so will no longer run at Re-imagine. So for me it’s all about learning and developing ideas. I’m asked more than anything to attend events, so I’ve been working on a show called “Today I Learnt” to take around schools and colleges bringing the magic of Re-use, reading from my children’s book (finally) and educating folks about a sustainable lifestyle. It’s super fun. 😃 To be able to do this Re-imagine will open with new hours Wednesday 10am - 2pm and Thursday 10am - 2pm to leave Fridays for events only. Then open as usual on Saturdays 11am - 1pm. Thank you to all the helpers coming in this week, there’s so much cleaning, sorting, moving, collecting, restocking, coffee getting, refitting areas, making kits and of course the new “Red Table” for some real talk. 🥰 We will reopen on September 4th 2019 10am - 2pm unless of course everyone shows up, gets busy, my joints hold up and we get the job done even quicker. 😃 It’s fantastic to be able to use your talents to better serve your community, it’s even more important to work together to best serve them...remember there’s no “I” in community..........oh wait. 😉 #whatwillyoudo #communityfirst

The Re-imagine Community Pantry In the UK 250,000 tons of food are thrown away each year by supermarkets as they respond to consumer expectations & demands, at the same time people sometimes find themselves facing hunger and do not have the money to feed themselves and their families. A year ago to the day I launched the Re-imagine Community Larder in a response to this situation, aiming to enable people struggling to afford food to access food that would otherwise go to waste and working with local groups to donate much needed supplies for those working with the most vulnerable in our community. It’s been both pleasurable and painful at times but surely one child going to school without breakfast is one child too many so there’s more that we can do. The Re-imagine Pantry (opening tomorrow) is a new addition to the Larder, designed firstly to help local people who are struggling financially and then also those passionate about food waste and for a very low membership fee local families and individuals can access a range of food items which they can choose from the available stocks. There are up to 50 memberships available to start this project - it will be granted on a first come first served basis, anymore will be placed on a waiting list. So here’s what you need to know. Membership is £2.50 per week payable at Re-imagine. A member can take up to 10 Pantry items per visit. These Pantry items are available seperately in the kitchen although customers can still have access to the usual Re-imagine Larder to add to their shop. Collection day is Friday at Re-imagine from 10am - 12pm and only when the centre is open. You are limited to one visit per family per week. To give all members an equal and fair share of the stock available we may limit some items to one per customer. There is no guaranteed availability of a specific item. We operate a strict take only what you need policy. So a bit more formal than the Larder folks but I hope that answers your questions and I look forward to welcoming you tomorrow, it’s so exciting offering new services to our community and start saving your containers as will be opening a refill at Re-imagine for Ecoleaf Hand Soap, Washing up liquid and Washing Detergents! ❤️♻️❤️ As always helping you on your journey to a more sustainable lifestyle. 😉 ♻️❤️🌏♻️❤️🌏♻️❤️🌏 Big thank you to @fareshare for a fantastic delivery today and to @ScottsBrothersFarmShop for another meat-tastic collection available in the Pantry tomorrow. ❤♻️❤ #fareshare #lovefoodhatewaste #sustainableliving #ethicalsupermarket #communitymatters #communityfridge

It's all happening tomorrow folks, after much hard work the Re-imagine Pantry will be open for business on Friday, a low cost grocer located here on site in Witchford. We currently rescue fresh fruit, vegetables, bread and other high quality food and household products from being thrown into landfill and offer them to our community at highly affordable rates. By shopping at The Re-imagine pantry you’ll be able to stretch your budget and put high quality and healthy food on the table for you and your family all the whilst reducing your carbon footprint. Launched in August 2018 our Community Larder program has expanded and we have made a huge impact to local families in a year. We’re rescuing lots of food every week and are supported by a fantastic team of partner organisations. Whatever your financial situation, if you’re looking for low cost groceries or committed to reducing your carbon footprint then you’ll be welcome here. Come down this Friday to sign up and recieve your new membership card. The cost is £2.50 per week, per family and there will be lots of food to take away. Of course our commitment to helping the most vunerable in our community with fresh, wholesome food always stays the same. ❤ As part of our commitment to the community we will welcome school groups for excursions and workshops to learn about food insecurity and food waste. There's lots of ways we can all play a part in turning food waste into food worth. #lovefoodhatewaste #fareshare #fightinghunger #tacklingfoodwaste

So much fun and only day ONE of the Ely Folk Festival. 🌞🍉🌮🍦🍺🎶 We had an eco- creative extravaganza making festival mats and sticks and almost selling out of our £1 eco-kits. ♻️ The stall was very popular today, thank you to my best helper Miss Tashi and a huge thank you has to go to John Lewis Cambridge for supplying the carpet samples. These awesome crafting events are made possible by connecting the dots and putting waste where it can do the most good........oh and you need an hard-working, eco-fabulous creative genius too....but of course you knew that. 😏 ♻️❤♻️❤♻️❤♻️❤♻️❤♻️❤♻️ #ilovemyjob #Ely #elyfolkfestival #johnlewis #wasteisntwasteuntilyouwasteit
