Bernadette Fisher Yoga Whitstable
Description
I teach two hour-long classes upstairs in the Horsebridge Centre, Whitstable. Saturday is a drop-in for all levels at 11.45. Monday at 17.45 is a smaller, slower class open to all but particularly good if you are new to yoga or after a break.
I trained with Simon Low's Yoga Academy. Simon is a leading teacher of yin and yang yoga, incorporating a deep understanding of anatomy into the physical practice. Breathing is key as is gaining a simple but profound understanding of yogic philosophy.
For more on my background and style go to www.bernadettefisheryoga.co.uk or just get in touch direct. I use my Facebook page Bernadette Fisher Yoga Whitstable to give updates on class arrangements and post links and useful info.
New students and visitors are always welcome to join my classes. Take an hour for yourself with yoga.
Namaste,
Bernadette.

facebook.comEaster is nearly here and with it so many signs of spring and new life, including this lovely celebratory yoga tree. I won’t be teaching on Easter Saturday (31st) or Easter Monday (April 2nd) but am back the following Saturday 7th and Monday 9th. Have a wonderful Easter break and take time for yourself and those around you. Namaste.
Just to let you know I will be making my way into town, either in the car or on foot (will decide later) to teach this morning at 11.45 at the Horsebridge. Good to get the wellies back on but let’s hope the plants don’t suffer too much. Be safe but please join us if you can for some lovely yoga. Namaste.
Fabulous piece on keeping our feet alive through yoga. https://www.facebook.com/BandhaYoga/posts/10155621999199576
Just a quick note to say I will be teaching this morning at 11.45 at the Horsebridge. So, get your wellies on and walk into town to stretch your snow-weary body, ready for the big thaw. Namaste.
My lovely auntie Molly died this week at the amazing age of 103, peacefully in her sleep. I’m going to her funeral next Saturday Jan 27th in Lee on Solent for what will be a real celebration of a rather remarkable life. Emma Witt will be covering my class at 11.45 at the Horsebridge. Emma trained with Cora Kemball-Cook of Canterbury Yoga Studio and has recently moved to Whitstable. Emma describes her teaching as gentle vinyasa flow. I’m sure you’ll enjoy her style and gain a lot from the class so do give it a try. Namaste, Bernadette.
This is an interview between my friend Lucy Edge and a wonderful teacher Zephyr Wildman. It encompasses how to live a fulfilled yogic life even when surrounded by sorrow, anxiety and grief. Enjoy and share. Namaste.
Can’t quite believe that Christmas and the New Year are coming around again but the cold weather is our proof. It’s been quite a year with my son’s wedding and some wonderful yoga experiences. I’m reminded of starting the year in Ashiyana in Goa with two weeks of intensive practice and fabulous food by the beach. Can’t be done this year but no doubt the few days of hibernation after Christmas will give me a chance to invoke the warmth and joy of that time. In the meantime, I guess we’ll all be focusing on keeping calm while all around us is the frenzy of Christmas. I like the spirit of this picture with the yogi in balance on a precarious world. Saturday 16th December is my last Saturday class until Jan 6th and Monday 18th is the last Monday class until Jan 8th. So do come along and wear something festive if you like. Wishing you peace at Christmas.
I think there’s a lot of wisdom here about keeping our bones healthy in later life through yoga.
Now that the autumn is upon us, it’s good to prepare our bodies and minds for colder times with yoga. It’s also good to anticipate next year’s yoga festival with fabulous workshops like this one with Monica Marini. https://www.facebook.com/events/1506776616067584??ti=ia
As many of you know, there's a lot going on for me in July including my lovely son Bruno's wedding. Monica Marini has kindly agreed to cover some of the classes I would have taught in previous years in the run-up to the Oyster Festival which marks the end of classes at the Horsebridge until the first weekend of September. This means that I will be teaching this Saturday July 1st, Monica will teach July 8th and I'm back for the 15th. The next Saturday class after that will be September 2nd. Monica will teach my Monday classes on July 3rd, 10th and 17th. The next Monday class will then be on Monday September 4th. Sorry to miss so much of July but I know you love Monica's teaching and will learn so much from her. I'm sure I'll see many of you over the coming weeks at yoga or on the High St. Whatever your summer brings, enjoy our fantastic festivals and swimming in the beautiful Whitstable sea. Namaste.
Here are some photos from our first Whitstable Yoga Festival. Thank you to my dear friend and yoga teacher Monica Marini, who did all the hard work, to my fellow yoga teachers who gave their time and dedication, for no payment, to yoga and to all our students and visitors. Income from the yoga will go to cover costs first then to three equal pots - a fund for a future festival, Whitstable Calais Solidarity and St Nicholas School for children with special needs (two charities dear to our hearts). Thanks too to Holistic Biscuit, our pop-up vegan cafe for wonderful drinks and food, to all the traders in our Market Place for their great clothes, drinks, beautiful creams, books, bags, aprons and lots, lots more, and to the therapists who braved the extreme heat (and a noisy siren on Saturday) to provide taster sessions of their many treatments. To the staff at the Horsebridge - your kindness, imagination, energy and commitment know no bounds. To Swami Shantamurti - you are a goddess. To yoga - we love you, Namaste.
Just a reminder that it's the #WhitstableYogaFestival tomorrow and Sunday (details at www.whitstableyogafestival.co.uk). My yin yoga class at 11.30 is fully-booked now so why not take the opportunity to try out some of the other amazing teachers? Remember if you book for three or more or five or more classes you get a discount. All yoga teachers are donating their time for free. Income from classes after costs will go into three equal pots - a fund for a future festival, St Nicholas' school for children with special needs and Whitstable Calais Solidarity. And there are plenty of amazing therapists to try out, a market place of yoga-related products, a vegan pop-up cafe and exhilarating Bollywood dancing. See you at Whitstable's first Yoga Festival.
