Friends of Kingsmead Horses is a charity based around the understanding of - and the access to - horses, supporting the work of Kingsmead Equestrian Centre Horses have long been recognised as a holistic healer of human ailments.  Their grace, compassion and undying honesty remind us of the most important elements of daily life.  Sadly, these are also often the most neglected.  Friends of Kingsmead Horses believes that it is through reconnecting with horses that it is possible to recapture some of that elusive horseyness that makes us whole.

It is through working closely with people and horses that Friends of Kingsmead Horses exists to support the emotional, physical and social wellbeing of the local community.  Through easy access to equine education at Kingsmead Equestrian Centre, Friends will complement this by providing physical, emotional and social wellbeing of horses, allowing and enhancing equine behaviour, requirement and environment.

Friends of Kingsmead Horses is here for the benefit of everyone.  It aims to broaden the opportunities available to all members of society – wholly inclusive of race, culture, religion, ability and disability.  Horses are not just about being available for riding, but also possess purposes beyond our basic comprehension.  There is something so pacifying about the presence of a pony that sooths the soul in a way no other holistic therapy possibly could.  Based at Kingsmead Equestrian Centre, Friends of Kingsmead Horses will help provide a place where people can connect with horses in a unique manner – on the ground or on their backs - beat their anxieties and realise a side of themselves that may otherwise have remained dormant.

Additionally, Friends of Kingsmead Horses targets the enhancement of social capacities for all horses and people.  With particular emphasis on individuals who have social, emotional, learning and behavioural difficulties and allowing them to engage with horses has proven to be especially beneficial – permitting a space for personal, social, educational and communicative developments of occur. Horses listen quietly, respond honestly and provide everyone with the non-judgmental responses each of us are entitled to.  Through careful facilitation and the provision of access to horses in whatever manner appropriate, Friends of Kingsmead Horses provides the level platform through which each and every one of us in the community can access horses at Kingsmead Equestrian Centre.
