#TeamBenson welcomed The Deputy Commander of Operations, Air Marshal Stu Atha during a visit to the Station today. As well as viewing our admirable facilities, the visit was also an excellent opportunity to showcase the accomplishments of our personnel during our relief effort in the Caribbean, Operation RUMAN.

We are thrilled to announce that RAF Benson was officially recognised as the best station in the Royal Air Force today when the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Chief Marshal Sir Stephen Hillier, presented #TeamBenson with the prestigious Stainforth Trophy. The hotly contested Stainforth Trophy is awarded annually to the Station deemed to have contributed the most to the delivery of air power, while maintaining a high level of community engagement, honouring and protecting heritage, charitable fundraising and sporting activity. During 2016, RAF Benson was heavily committed to operations and exercises across the world, including the ongoing Puma deployment in Afghanistan. Several squadrons also marked significant anniversaries with associated parades while numerous personnel were commended for their personal and professional achievements. Community engagement continued throughout the year with many well-received events and activities such as the refurbishment of the war memorial at Berinsfield, the Cadet Muster where over 700 cadets experienced helicopter flights, Armed Forces Week where a Chinook visited Wallingford and the Puma Force delivering Santa to the John Radcliffe Children’s Hospital with gifts to name but a few.
