facebook.comIn the last few months many people have been requesting this song as one of their funeral reflective music choices. It's a new song to me and I understand that Ed Sheeran wrote it after the loss of his own grandmother. It's very beautiful and it may be a comfort to some who have experienced similar loss.

Music plays an important part of the service for the loss of a loved one and I'm often asked which are the songs or tunes most used today. Often there is a mixture of popular songs or hymns which are special to either the one who has gone or to their close family and friends. I thought I would share some of the songs and tunes that are being used at the present time by many. 'Birdy' by Wings is a popular choice at the present time I think because not only is it a beautiful tune beautifully sung but it has the lyric 'Stories of all that we did' which seems very apt at a celebration and remembrance of a person's life but it also expresses the desire or longing to be with someone special for ever. https://youtu.be/W0xAwxQLszQ
