The South East Schools Cross Country Championships took place today over at Harrow School. It was the final race of the season for many of our runners and a great event to finish on. Schools from all over the South East battled it out in a highly competitive championships which involved over 30 teams including: Brighton College, Harrow, Eton, Dover College, Norwich, Sedbergh, St. Alban's and Judd School. The strength of the field was clearly evident with many top county runners participating and schools that placed highly at the national finals in December as well as the recent Knole Run. The CCCS sides ran exceptionally well especially considering many had already taken part in the London Mini-Marathon trials in the morning(!) and were definitely feeling it in the legs - pure dedication to the badge!! Thank you all! Overall results were as follows: Junior Boys (U15) - 2nd - Equal highest ever CCCS finish! Alex Ford - 3rd, Oliver Jones - 9th, Zach Bridges - 12th, Harry Lewis - 13th, Frank Lewis - 16th, Sam Bradley - 25th, Dan Edwards - 26th, Callum Basinger - 29th and Matthew Hick - 31st. Inter Boys (U17) - 6th Harry Jones - 8th, Oliver Woods - 30th, George Hill - 36th, Jacob Smith - 54th, Henry Lay - 57th, Jake Long - 61st, Dom Jarvis - 65th & Josh McGill - 66th. Senior Boys Tom Keevil - 9th, Sam Atkins - 13th, Oliver Morter - 47th & Joe Hudnott - 48th Well done team - fantastic results and excellent team spirit shown throughout! A couple of mentions: Well done to Henry Lay - who lost BOTH shoes during the race and continued to run with even more determination in the second half (through the pain!). Well done to Jacob Smith who picked up one of his shoes and ran with it all the way to the finish! Thank you to PC Edwards who came along to help manage and support the team today - much appreciated sir. To the Year 11 boys: Harry Jones, Ollie Woods, George Hill and Jacob Smith. Thank you for all your efforts over the past 5 years to CCCS Cross Country and hopefully we'll see you back in the senior team next year. Finally, Ollie Morter (Year 13) was running in his FINAL EVER cross country race for CCCS. Ollie has been fully dedicated to the school team for the past 7 years and has been a hugely influential member. The picture shows Ollie in his first ever race (the Lee Valley relays) - he has been a fantastic role model ever since, inspiring those around him and always bringing humour along with a superb team spirit to every competition. Thank you Ollie for being a definite CCCS Cross Country / Athletics / Triathlon(!) star and good luck in your final exams! #LasB #SouthEastChampionships #cccscrosscountry #tworacesinoneday #goodbyeandgoodluckollie

Message from Claire Richards re Havering Mini Marathon Trial this Sunday: "At present the Mini Marathon trial will go ahead as planned. We are keeping a close eye on the weather conditions over the next few days, and we are hoping that the expected rain and increased temperature on Saturday will clear any snow. Should conditions not improve sufficiently and remain hazardous, unfortunately we will have to postpone the trial and seek a rearranged date. Any enquiries please e mail clairerichards6@tiscali.co.uk Havering Mini Marathon Team Manager. "

A huge well done to the 8A girls PE group who successfully raised a huge £560 by doing a 40 minute sponsored swim in their PE lesson before half term. Special mention goes to Erin Shore who raised a massive £140 on her own - a fantastic achievement! The girls voted to donate their money to SNAP (Special Needs and Parents) in Brentwood. Well done girls - a very kind and caring act showing Love as Brethren values at their very best! #lasb
