Uplawmoor Community Council
www.uplawmoorcouncil.co.uk/ "Community Councils are the most local tier of statutory representation in Scotland. They bridge the gap between local authorities and communities, and help to make public bodies aware of the opinions and needs of the communities they represent."

Our aim in setting up a Facebook page is to access as many members of our community in Uplawmoor as possible, in a format that is convenient to their lifestyle.
We also have a new Website and we continue to inform our community with notices on village Noticeboards and Newsletters. Information can also be found on the ERC website.
We endeavour to keep you up to date on all matters arising at UCC meetings which include everything that can directly or indirectly affect your community as you know it.
We will continue to try to improve the ways of communicating effectively, and also continue to try to improve the service that we offer our community. Please don't hesitate to contact us!
Thank you for taking the time to read this.

** Airspace Update - BBC News Coming to Uplawmoor Tomorrow Morning** We are very excited that our struggle with the Glasgow airspace plans has been picked up by 3 of the BBC News teams (Reporting Scotland, Good Morning Scotland and BBC Alba) and we’d love your help to help tell our story to the nation! They’ll be here at 10am tomorrow at the playpark, probably for around an hour, so it would be brilliant if & your kids you could all come along to show as much support for this as possible. We have the Airspace banners and the more, the merrier! So get your wellies on and don’t be shy... your village needs you! They’re also looking to informally interview some villagers to get a sense of what impact these changes might have to life in the village. Not looking for any technical facts- just some good, honest feedback and reaction. It won't be a live broadcast, so should be pretty relaxed. Anyone keen? Clare (Airspace Working Group) PS - I’ve checked with the hall keeper and we can use the cafe as a Plan B if the heavens really open! PPS - please tune into BBC Radio Scotland tomorrow at 8.40am to hear our very own Stuart Wilson giving his views on the proposed changes to Good Morning Scotland!

Update from the Airspace working group. **AIRSPACE ACTION REQUIRED** The working group has sought some legal advice and pulled together a plan, which is based on gathering as many objections as possible to the Airport flight path proposals. Consultation cut off date is Friday 13th April, but please don't panic if you haven't yet raised an objection! We want to make it as easy as possible for you to lodge a formal objection to these changes. Therefore... We will be knocking on doors over the coming week to ensure everyone knows about the proposals. If you want to object (and we hope you do!), we can help with three options: OPTION 1. We have drafted a generic objection letter, which would only require your signature and the date. We would then collate and send all hard copy responses directly to Glasgow Airport on your behalf, with an electronic copy cc'd to CAA, to the relevant MSPs, MPs and local elected members. Under no circumstances will your data be sent to any other 3rd parties, or used for any other purpose other than the Glasgow Airport airspace exercise. Multiple responses per household are permitted, as long as 16 years old, or older. OPTION 2. We have also provided a list of points pulling out the key information from the last two weeks. You may find this useful if you'd like to submit a more specific objection to these plans. OPTION 3. For those who want to submit a bespoke objection letter, but would like some assistance to pull this together, we've had a generous offer of help from two residents who are English teachers. Let us know and we can arrange some drop-in sessions where we'll take care of the typing, printing and posting. Finally, and in addition to the above, Glasgow Airport continues to welcome your feedback via their Airspace website (glasgowairport.com/airspace), or directly via email (airspace@glasgowairport.com). You may have seen a link pinned to the top of the Uplawmoor Info page. The more responses and objections we raise against these plans going ahead, the better. For anyone in outlying areas that you know is not on Facebook, it'd be really useful if you could make us aware so we can reach out to them separately. All the documents mentioned will be available online in a day or two - we're just completing the final checks. Many thanks again for all your support, and look forward to seeing you over the coming week. The Airspace Working Group www.uplawmoorairspace.org
