Just back from Art in Clay exhibition in Farham with some of my students. Lots of inspirational work taking place and I met these lovely folk from the Pottery Throw Down! Would highly recommend anyone interested in ceramics to go have a look. Only £ 5 to get in open tomorrow too.

A far cry from my normal beasties but here's a little something I've been working on for a while that I'd like to share with you.. Though it took me quite a bit longer than expected I'm really pleased with the end result and really enjoyed the challenge. It's pretty stressful using different glazing techniques as one is never so confident about it coming out quite as you expect. My students have been using these underglaze colours for years and sometimes the clear glaze you apply over the top can go cloudy over the colours, especially black. The paler picture shows the colours painted on but with no glaze on. You have to be careful to apply enough underglaze as it can go streaky if you don't but you only see it when the shiny glaze is fired on and your work is ruined. I was so pleased to open my kiln and see how well this had come out. 😊

Succesful day yesterday delivering work to Cecilia Colmsn Gallery in St John's Wood High street. This was the first gallery I ever supplied after I left art college 30 years ago. Due to the commitments of starting a family almost 20 years ago and moving to the Isle of Wight 15 years ago the supply dwindled and then stopped about 5 years ago so it's great to be able to rekindle things again. It's a lovely gallery with a good reputation and Cecilia is great to deal with. If you're in the area do pop in 😊

New work for Wolverton Garden Fair this weekend. Before and after firing! Piglets and flying pigs were a success at Open studio so I made a 'herd'. Alfie was sitting by me in the garden the other day and I just happened to have a bag of clay beside me so these three sculptures materialised. ....and I'm pretty pleased with my new bowls!! . 😊 A good firing all round.

This is probably one-off the nicest fairs on the Isle of Wight. I will be here again this year in my usual spot in the top Art and Craft tent. Do come and see me. Have some new work and new bowls too! 😊
