Witheridge Riding Club
Description
Membership has continued to increase, peaking at 180 members in 2008. Our members come from all over Devon & parts of Somerset, and from all walks of life, from the professional rider to the weekend hobby rider. The activites we organise and run vary from year to year but tend to include “closed” events for members only plus open events that may be a show, hunter trial or one day event. We also run social events and a very popular annual “camp”, all of which are great ways of meeting fellow members and improving your riding whether this is for competitions or just for pleasure.

However, it is the responsibility of the competitor to contact the organiser should the weather suggest problems. Up to date information will be available on the website. Warm-up on outdoor school Ex racehorses registered to compete with the RoR are awarded points at our competitions through the year. There will be an RoR rosette for the one with most points (not dressage marks) at this competition.
Well done today Witheridge at the Area 12 Eventer Challenge! Our 80cm NQ team WON!!! With Claire 1st and Jenny 6th individually. Our 90cm Q team finished 3rd with Sharon 3rd and Alex 5th. Also Daisy 8th individually in the 90cm. Special thanks to our helpers Caroline, Helen, Jillie, Jill and Sally.
MEMBERS ONLY CLEAR ROUND SJ I am still hoping that a few people, in addition to the two who came forward at the AGM last night, might want to jump tomorrow. We have decided that it is only fair that the people who jump help with the course building, so please be ready by 10.30 am (not 9.30 as I anticipate a frozen school first thing) to put up some jumps. Would any member like to join our qualifying team for the Area 12 Combined Training competition at Pontispool on Sunday 11th March?? The entry fee is £29 plus £7.50 BRC fee. Ideally for the 75cm class, but 85cm class if not. The Championship should you qualify is at Aston-le-Walls, on 19th/20th May.
It was a great day for WRC yesterday at the Area 12 Winter SJ Championships. The Novice team (pictured below) were thrilled to finish on 0 penalties for 2nd place. The Intermediate NQ team were very happy to finish 3rd. And the Intermediate Q team did well to finish 3rd in the qualifiers and 5th overall. Well done to all, especially on such a wet, cold day! Full report will be in the next newsletter.
