We had a wonderful morning at A' the Airts in Sanquhar doing our bird themed art workshop. Thanks to Jane Ross and to all the awesome little artists who took part. The pieces created today will be framed and displayed in one of our guest bedrooms...but, we need more! So, if there are any more budding artists out there who would like to be a part of this exciting project then please send your creations to the address below. You can do any bird(s) in any medium and any size. The more variety we have, the better our display will be so get creating kids! Don't forget to include your name and age on the back of each piece. Today we visited the American Midwest and Japan... Not really, obvs. These photos were taken today less than an hour away from Rigg House B&B, just over in Ayrshire. So much beauty everywhere!

The wonderful A' the Airts centre in Sanquhar is well worth a visit if you are in the area. There is lovely shop which sells the work of local artists, as well as a gallery, workshop rooms, a little theater space and cafe. Next Saturday I am joining forces with local Artist, Jane Ross, and providing a kid's art workshop where they will be creating pieces of bird-themed artwork to be displayed in one of our guest bedrooms. This review on Trip Advisor just brought a tear to my eye! We love our awesome guests ❤️ Utterly astonishing Mrs Egg took me here for a Valentine's trip - from turning off the main road (clearly signed from the East), it was simply breathtaking. The hotel is simply immaculate, beautifully decorated, and just utterly charming. We arrived to a wonderful friendly welcome, then straight up to our wonderful room (with stunning view up to the mountains). Add to that, a locally sourced and perfectly cooked breakfast, with superb coffee, and owners you could chat to all day... There is no higher praise than us promising to stay there again. (And the homemade flapjack in the room is the icing on the cake)... And, best of all, it's dog-friendly, so the hairiest member of the Egg household also loved the place... and the attention!

We are excited to announce that we are now serving homemade pie and mash suppers! Today's choices are Steak & Ale pie served with mustard mash, baby carrots and braised red cabbage or Mozzarella & Red pepper pie served with fennel mash, tender stem broccoli and asparagus.

Yesterday I took myself off on an epic snowy adventure and explored more of the beauty around Rigg House. I saw just 3 other humans in nearly 7 hours. First I walked the Baker's Burn trail, followed by a never ending uphill climb up the forestry road where the snow was so heavy I could barely see a thing. I am an aching mess today. If any guests would like a guided walk I'd be more than happy to oblige!
