On Thursday last week, we were honoured to be invited to the Staffordshire Freemasons for the official presentation of our grant from the Masonic Charitable Foundation. Thanks to our local Freemasons nominating us and then our supporters voting we were awarded an incredible £15,000 donation. This will make a huge difference in our In Patient Unit where the funds will directly benefit patients and their families. Our Chief Executive, Richard Soulsby, and Trust Fundraiser, Kelly Day, had a great visit at the Wolverhampton Masonic Centre where they presented the work we do and had a look around the Temples. They were also were delighted to meet and thank the people who had nominated us as well as meet and learn about the other three other charities who received grants. In total the Masonic Charitable Foundation awarded £50,000 between ourselves, Midland Freewheelers Blood Bikes, Wolverhampton MS Therapy Centre and Staffordshire Women's Aid. We are privileged to have benefitted from these particular grants which mark the 300 year celebration of the formation of The United Grand Lodge of England. We look forward to welcoming some of the Freemasons to the Hospice in the near future to show them around and thank Masonic Charitable Foundation again for supporting us and our fellow local charities. #staffordshire #thankyou

It’s ‘official’…according to an almost scientific study by Revolution and Katharine House Hospice…people in and around Katharine House Hospice feel GENEROUS. We know this because, when Revolution Stafford removed their pricing structure on all dishes on 5th October and asked people to ‘pay what you feel’ with all proceeds to the hospice, they accumulated a tremendous donation of £1,406! This morning we had something very special land in our inbox… One of our patients had captured what his recent stay with us had meant for him and we were touched. They say a picture is worth a thousand words and his pictures just seem to say it all. The message read, “Photos from my stay at Katharine House Hospice… a little piece of heaven here down on earth! Many thanks to all the staff, volunteers etc for the way you’re looking after me, especially during the very dark times I had over the weekend! x”. Well, in the case of Stafford’s new café bar, Verso Lounge, you would be talking 906 burgers and 3,752 coffees because, during their first month of trading, Verso Lounge kindly donated 10p for every coffee and 50p from every burger sold.
