Glyn has excelled at many sports including Wakefield Gymnast Champion, Cross-counrty champion and Athletics Champion. Captain of his University Athletics team, captain of his university Basketball team. Former Yorkshire, Northern Counties and GB Universities and National Senior Javelin Champion where he was ranked in the top twenty in the world.
Glyn has a Bachelor of Arts degree and Master of Science degree and a Diploma in Personal Training.
Glyn is co-owner of Oxygym Fitness Club.
Passionate about PT Glyn has helped many people lose weight and get in to great shape. This includes clients simply wanting to lose weight to others recovering from injury to those getting fit to fight life threatening illness.

PERSONALTRAINING GETS RESULTS: PETER’S STORY - HOW I BEAT HEART DISEASE AND LOST OVER TWO STONE’ Peter is nearly 50 and works as a storeman. At school he was uninterested in sports and particularly disliked running. However as the years went by he used to see members of the local running club training and decided to give running a go. Progress was rapid and he was soon racing over 10k and half marathon distances with respectable times. Peter also completed in the Great North Run 13 times and his running career peaked when he ran the London Marathon in 1995 with a time of just under 4 hours. However during training for the marathon he developed had a persistent cough and cold which was hampering his progress. Making an appointment at the doctors for some antibiotics he was given the staggering news that he had a heart problem. This was to be a major turning point in his life. Only a few months after completing the London Marathon he went up to the Freeman Hospital for major surgery. ‘I knew something wasn’t right but didn’t expect the doctors saying to me ‘you do realise there is a chance you may not come out of this?’ I was terrified! The next thing I knew I was waking up in Intensive care. I was told I could go home if I could manage to climb the 3 flights of stairs outside of the ward – it took me a week. I had gone from finishing the London Marathon to just being able to manage 30 odd stairs in 5 months; I was confused and frightened about what the future held’. Peter left hospital never to run again and for 10 years and in fear did no exercise just in case the heart problem reoccurred. ‘You know I could have been out running then BANG no more me’! ‘I became a couch potato; I ballooned to nearly 15 stones. Mates at work started to call me fat boy, their comments never bothered me I thought it was just shop floor banter. Then 4 months ago whilst out playing golf my Dad turned to me and said ‘you’re going to have to get rid of that gut!’ Dad saying that to me was like being hit by a brick. Was I really that fat and unfit? Did I really have that much of a beer belly? Well the truth is yes, but had chosen to ignore it and hide behind my heart problem’. ‘My diet was all over the place, I was drinking too much too often, comfort drinking every night at home, eating ready meals packed full of fats and calories and god knows what else. I was eating 2-3 huge bars of chocolate a week and was in danger of becoming addicted to them! I was having mood swings most days and feeling low and depressed, basically I was a mess. My Dads comment was my wakeup call and things had to change. I need help and motivation’. ‘A couple of weeks before a leaflet advertising Personal Training dropped though the door. It was from a guy called Glyn Amos. I read some of his testimonials and realised that many of the people he worked with were just like me. I decided to get in touch with Glyn and give PT a try. I was determined to get fit and lose weight. In only 8 weeks I lost over a stone and can see the difference in body shape. I go twice a week for 30 minutes and Glyn. To support this he has set me two home based exercise session to do. I focus mainly on cardio work using the bikes and cross trainers with a few light weights thrown in. Glyn put me on his Healthy Eating Action Plan as he calls it and this has totally changed for the better and I have cut the drinking out (well almost). If I’m honest yes sometimes I have to push myself to go to see Glyn but once there I get such a buzz from the exercise I feel great afterwards. If I could bottle the ‘BUZZ’ I would make a fortune! Gone are the days when my Doctor pats my beer belly and just looks at me! Although he didn’t say `you fat b ******, he did say my heart would thank me if I lost some weight! When I go back up to the Freeman as I do every year for a check-up I want my consultant to see me back at 12 stone and fit. I want them to know they didn’t waste their time trying to save me from dying instead of them seeing me slowly killing myself with food and drink. I am determined to keep losing weight and to tone up, to keep feeling better not only physically but also mentally with that Buzz I get from working out. The truth of the matter is if I can do it then so can lots of other people who thought they were a lost cause, all you need is the motivation and the right support. Personal Training worked for me it can work for you too.

If you missed the BOXERCISE class tonight you missed a great class. 500 calories melted some great muscular endurance with cardio finishing with an abdominal tri-set. Boxercise is suitable for people of all abilities it needs no coordination and little skill what it does need is a bunch of great ladies giving their best and loving exercise and that’s exactly what I got tonight.
