CAMEO Day Centres
Description
CAMEO is a registered charity, that provides care for people with memory problems. CAMEO provide small self contained Day Centres offering respite to Carers looking after a confused person.
Amongst services available on a regular basis at our day centres are the following:
Outings
Stimulating activities including art and craft, reminiscence and music
Companionship
Lunch, tea and coffee
Support for carers
Advice on other help that might be available
We have excellent day centres throughout Spelthorne which cater for the more able people. For those who are confused, a small group which offers a high ratio of staff and volunteer helpers to members, means they receive the stimulation and attention they need. It also ensures that their carers receive much needed respite.

facebook.comCAMEO have been selected as beneficiaries of proceeds from the auction of an artwork "Elaine with Citern" painted by the late Desmond Jones, a well known local artist. His daughter Elaine Samuels (yes, the same Elaine as in our painting), who is organising the event, has recruited Charlie Ross, the television Art and Antiques expert as celebrity Auctioneer for the event. Charlie regularly appears on Bargain Hunt and Antiques Road Trip. Elaine (http://elainesamuels.co.uk/) an accomplished singer, song-writer and guitarist has visited CAMEO on a number of occassions to entertain our members. The venue for the auction is Richmond Upon Thames College (RutC), where Desmond studied as an Art Student 73-years ago. The doors will open for registration at 5:00pm, for what will be an exciting evening. More information about Desmond Jones and the auction can be found at the following website - http://www.desmondjonesart.co.uk/
Shepperton Aurora Rotary have long been supporters of CAMEO. This year we have been one of their incumbent President, Mike Gicquel's nominated Charities. Late last year they hosted a sell-out evening of live music from the 60's with the band Ancient Rock at Chertsey Hall, which raised £2,800. More recently, Annette, Cheryl and Geoff were guests at their weekly breakfast meeting. These people never stop giving and supporting. After our modest speech, we had several more offers of help and involvement!!
A great many thanks to Tiffany Bateman and Tina Dunn as well as a generous boost in sponsorship money from Dell EMC. All together they have raised about £2,500 which will be put to very good use in our Day Centres. We really appreciate you taking CAMEO as your nominated charity!!!!
