A lot of people come into my shop asking how I do my furniture. So I have decided to post this so all questions are answered. This is a commission piece I finished last week for a lovely customer Zofia. She specified a sanded top and for the paintwork not to be to distressed. So if you fancy having a go the only advice is start small and its not as easy as you think its going to be. Photo 1 Original piece Photo 2 Sand the top as it had a lot of scratch marks on. Photo 3 First coat of Chalk paint applied. Photo 4 Bleached handles as sometimes they can come out a lovely pewter colour. Photo 5 2nd coat of Chalk paint applied. Photo 6, 7, 8 Start distressing paintwork at edges and corners. Give everywhere a light sand for smooth surface. Photo 9 and 10 Paint and distress handles and back plates. Photo 11 and 12 stain top twice. Photo 13 and 14 Matt varnish all paintwork. Photo 15 and 16 Matt varnish top twice. Photo 17, 18, 19 Varnish handles. Finished.
