The Royal Oak dates back to the 16th century and is situated in the historic market town of Rhayader.It is renowned for its friendly staff and hospitality. The Royal Oak dates back to the 16th century and is situated in the historic market town of Rhayader, the gateway to the Elan Valley.
The Royal Oak has an original pewter bar top, one of the last original pewter bar tops in the UK. We serve the major drinks brands which you can enjoy in the vibrant bar or in the cosy lounge with log burner.
We are the only pub in Rhayader to host the darts winter premier league and we hold darts events throughout the year
accommodating 3 dart boards. We have teams in both summer and winter league.
We have a friendly open mic/jam night on Thursday evenings and live bands playing throughout the year. We also host an annual speed shear.
We can cater for parties and can provide a large marqee in our courtyard.
We are open from Thursday to Sunday. We normally open from 6pm but open earlier for events. Please phone for details.

Gwana and i would like to thank everyone who has supported the darts league this season ! Special thank you to Hywel Evans for all the work he has put into making this happen! The winner of the league was Charlie Pugh followed by Hywel runner up , Hywel won the most 180's, the play off winner was Hywel beating Gwana in the final, the plate cup went to Howell beating mikey , would like to say thanks to swivel for marking and sos the only woman in the league and giving the men a run for their money! Not forgetting Cedy who keeps reminding us he was top of the league for the first 6 weeks! Thanks all a great season look forward to the next !
