Description
Dream Marine with us in 2017. Festival events take place around Ramsgate 22-30 July (many free!) alongside Ramsgate Week and Ramsgate Carnival.Arts, Music, Shows, Parades, Walks, Talks and more. This year's Ramsgate Festival is 22-30 July 2017, alongside Ramsgate Week and the 2017 theme is #DreamMarine,
Ramsgate Festival is going to be amazing and much bigger than ever before this year!
Starting with opera on the beach (Handel’s Semele from Garsington Opera) and finishing with Fire Finale, the packed programme includes: Littoral Light, a beautiful illuminated twilight art installation on a remote stretch of beach involving 40 artists; the Ramsgate Slide, a giant waterslide inspired by internationally famous artist Luke Jerram; Jimmy's Boatyard, a unique installation from Russian artists Cardboardia and Yorkshire's Handmade Parade, working with local artists, who will bring a daily programme of boat making in the harbour (think BIG!) - and a host of diverse, fun and serious, high quality events that celebrate the unique maritime location of this extraordinary place, from nautical-themed computer games at the Micro Museum, to heritage walks and talks. Ramsgate has the country’s only Royal Harbour as well as golden sandy beaches and is just over an hour from London by train. This year's Ramsgate Festival theme is #DreamMarine. It takes place 22-30 July 2017, alongside the historic Ramsgate Week regatta. The organisers say: ‘Think big. unleash your creative potential, play and have fun, everyone can be part of this but prepare to be surprised and possibly challenged by Dream Marine in 2017’
-Ramsgate Festival is produced by Ramsgate Arts and Artaha alongside Ramsgate Week, with the support of The Arts Council England, The Turner Contemporary, Dreamland Margate, Opera for All, Looping the Loop, Coastal Communities Alliance, Magnae Vitae, Ramgate Town Council, Thanet District Council, Ramsgate Society, Ramsgate Town Team, and Margate Festival and the close collaboration and hard work of a long list of other organisations and committed individuals.

Hello all, we wish to share the following statement from Ramsgate Arts and Artaha, the organisers of Ramsgate Festival. Since the early hours of Sunday morning, 30 July, we have been working to resolve the difficulties with our supplier for the Ramsgate Slide event which was due to take place that day. As the situation is not yet resolved we want to share an upate of actions currently underway and basic background details. We confirmed our order for the Slide and paid a 50% deposit (£2,655 inclusive of VAT) on 11 July, agreeing that we would pay the balance on delivery. The cost included the operation of the Slide on the day by the supplier, expert in managing inflatable structures. After paying the deposit we had no reason to believe there was any problem with the order or any issues with the payment terms. After the company failed to deliver the goods or services on Sunday 30 July, notifying us at 11pm the evening before the event was due to take place, we requested to visit them at their headquarters in Staffordshire to see our slide, make the final payment and bring it back to Ramsgate for future use. We proposed making this visit on Tuesday 2 August but were advised, via email, that 8 August, today, would be the earliest the company could allow us access to their workshop. Yesterday, 7th August, the supplier sent us an email which cancelled this visit, stating that they 'can't hold a demonstration tomorrow' and 'will be in touch as soon as possible'. We are planning our next steps and remain committed to delivering the Ramsgate Slide event to the town at a future date. Anyone with any further questions or information to share is asked to contact us directly by email info@ramsgatefestival.org, for attention of Teresa Askew, Festival Director.
