Iceland 2019 expedition lead by Flt Lt Darren Anglesea from 2480 Holywell Sqn assisted by CI’s Anglesea, Reynolds, Erasmus and Conley. The expedition involved a 4 day arduous 81km trek walking through sulphurous springs, across ash deserts, around volcanoes and over glaciers (including many cold river crossings). After the trek the group embarked on 2 days of environmental project work involving repairs to pathways at Skaftafell National Park. All whilst camping and enduring continuous rain storms. The expedition then moved onto a guided glacial walk which highlighted the effects of global warming by the glaciers retreating by the size of half a football pitch a year. The final day was spent relaxing in the blue lagoon in Reykjavik before flying home. The expedition was part funded the Ulysses Trust, RAF Charitable Trust, No2 Welsh Wing Civillian Committee and the cadets themselves.

Good luck to all our cadets who are getting their GCSE results tomorrow. Remember there are plenty of options for you to choose from, if they are good or not soo good! Talk to family, friends, tutors and careers advice! The sky is the limit!

Since Saturday, 33 cadets have been undergoing fieldcraft and other preparatory training at Sennybridge Training Area. Cadets with existing fieldcraft knowledge have been tested and practiced in their basic skills before developing further knowledge to operate in the field environment, whilst newer cadets have learnt the basic skills required. For the first time in No 2 Welsh Wing all cadets have been trained in blank firing. Today and tonight, both courses join together. The intermediate cadets - many in leadership roles - will work in sections with the basic cadets to achieve various objectives. All cadets will bivvy out on the training area during an exercise which will culminate tomorrow.
