And when we asked her how this experience will help her in the future, she said 'greater appreciation for all the work that goes into the kitchen and how many different changes Head Chef Carl has to make to fit residents needs and wants' Thank you Jess! A DAY IN YOUR COLLEAGUE'S SHOES. That's right. Our new project which will continue for the next few months, when we will go outside our comfort zone and will try to better understand our colleague's work and their role. Fiona, our Receptionist, became a carer for a day and she absolutely enjoyed it! We've asked her what things she enjoyed most being a carer? she said, 'I felt I got to know residents better, also their likes and dislikes. When I work behind reception desk I don't spend as much time with them as I would like to, however I got to know them better working as a carer' What was the most challenging areas? 'Assisting with personal care for less mobile residents I thought was the hardest part of being a carer' How will you be able to help them in the future and make sure you support your colleagues better? 'Know I understand that sometimes simple carer's reguest as printing out a form, will speed up their tasks they have to complete, as I did not realise until working as a carer - every minute counts and if I can help them with paperwork, which they've got so much to fill (!) I will not think twice about it anymore. Thank you Fiona! 🌼🌼🌼🌼
