volvo polestar 20 inch alloy wheels came in originally diamond cut but took big chunks out of the spokes on a couple ,,could not get them re diamond cut as gashes were too deep so they will not re diamond cut and volvo wanted £1000 per wheel for new ones,so we fully refurbished them tig welded alluminium in spokes re shaped them and powder coated them in same colour that was in between spokes (titanium in matt finish) customer was made up with them and saved a good few quid,alloytechrefurbedrims.co.uk

old skool bbs split rims these are usually rotting and have been neglected it is the norm for split rims and this set was no different ,reason for this is usually the cost to refurbish them or yet again people just get them wet sprayed over the rot and they get worse ,i am no different in charging more but why we charge more is there is at least twice the work that has to be done on them take these for instance we usually have to split them as you cant put in a oven to powder coat as one wheel,, they can fracture,,so there is 16 pieces that have to be prepared and powder coated on these bbs there is 3 times the work than normal wheels.This is why there is going to be a extra charge,,and then we have to make sure everything fits back together as it should plus put bolts back in and do up. so if you have looked through the photo's you should realize how much work is involved in split rims. these are a customers we have just finished in chromed silver as he does not want the maintenance of the polished lips and that is a good choice as if you dont maintain the polished lips they will just rot out,,they are now back to a good standard again and as long as they are looked after and not curbed will last a lot more years..

Typical bmw badly rotted wheels,,this is mostly caused by people getting the wheels either smart repaired or having a so called wet spray refurbishment and all that they get done is a quick rub down on face a primer if they are lucky and a quick blow over and usually over rot and filler it lasts 6 to 12 months if your lucky or you go for a new tyre and it can take all the paint off the rim as they just tape the tyre when spraying the wheel then you blame the poor tyre fitter or they dull right down after a few months or start peeling. this rotting is caused by years of patching the wheel up and wet spraying over the rot which makes it worse and worse over time these photos are of the wheels after they have had all there coating chemically stripped off the wheels,,so this is how your wheels are rotting away under the spray paint getting worse and worse and eventually to bad to do. we would have turned these wheels away usually as there is too much work involved and the cost is greater because of the amount of rotting on wheels.,, what we do is a professional full strip down to bare metal prepare wheels fully with etch blast taking rot out and taking curbing out of wheels then rebuild powder coat refurbishment on the wheels please do not confuse us with a paint spraying service. however as it was a good customer of ours and they were for his son who had just bought the car and got it a lot cheaper because of the state of the wheels we agreed to do them for him and as you can see from the finished articles on the car we got them back to a good standard so the customer sent us all of the photos as he was over the moon with them and wanted us to show before and after,,so please think before you get a quick wet spray over wheels as you could well totally ruin your wheels and it will cost you in the long term.also don't forget people who keep there wheels to a good standard will always get more money for there car when coming to sell it so if you are going to get a refurbishment done on your wheels get it done properly the first time. — Products shown: professional full powdercoat refurbishng.
