facebook.comToday we wished farewell to two of our colleagues who are moving on to pastures new. Piers Dance has been a simply outstanding trainee instructor and Tutor here for the last 3 years and is off to become duty manager at the Harrogate climbing wall (check the t-shirt!). David Hubbert on the other hand is retiring as a stalwart member of our (essential!) facilities team after a 50 year association with Bewerley Park (man and boy!). The centre will have to work very hard to replace these two fine gentlemen. Best of luck to you both.
Significant measurable improvements in psychological wellbeing and connectedness to nature as a result of a course at Bewerley Park. We already knew it and now we can prove it!
Group 10 from Lady Lumley's enjoyed cooling off in the pool at Janet's Foss during their walk round the classic Malham Cove and Gordale Scar (including climbing up it!), in the beautiful Yorkshire Dales.
A perfect day for Lady Lumleys School Year 8s to head up Buckden Pike via the beautiful Buckden Beck. The team showed great resilience in completing this tough ascent.
Rillington Primary School
Those marvellous staff from Rillington Primary School have been keeping a daily blog of their residential here. As well as being highly entertaining (the lengths some students go to to pass dorm inspection always impress us!) it also gives a great flavour of what a week here could entail.
Current Vacancies
NYOLS other centre, East Barnby, are looking for more freelance/supply staff. Please pass this on to anyone who may be interested.

Climbing and Ghyll Scrambling in a cave without a roof? It must be the amazing Strans Ghyll with the equally amazing Wensleydale Year 9s! Always a great adventure.

NYOLS attended the NYCC student voice conference last week. It was great to hear the stories of pupils who had already been to our Centre's.
UWFRA - The Wharfedale Three Peaks Challenge
Massive congratulations to our very own Heather Tuffs in coming in as first Lady and 4th overall in this year's Wharfedale three peaks challenge on Saturday! Rumour has it she was racing again today; maybe that means she won't need to run before work on Monday? (Not likely if you know our Heather!)

Our former Trainee Instructor Pete Couldwell would seem to be winning the award for 'Best travelled Bewerley Park souvenir'. Here he is flying his Bewerley Park Buff on top of Mount Tongariro, New Zealand with his better half Katie. Our buffs are available exclusively from our Tuck Shop when you visit us. We would love to see photos of you with yours on your own adventures. Send them in and we'll share them here!
When you've built up the resilience to tackle the big jump at Blayshaw ghyll sometimes you wish you could just do it again and again! That was certainly the case with Titus Salt School Year 8s today.
Titus Salt School Year 8 got off to a soggy start today. We have built their course around their ethos of "Together, Resilience, Ambition, Caring". So, warm weather + Canoeing = lots of self rescues!
