As you can see in this video, students from Stagecoach Theatre Arts Oswestry had a wonderful day at the ‘Much Wenlock Poetry Festival’. The day began with an early start by coach from Oswestry and only improved as it went on. We arrived in time for a brief rehearsal with the technical staff before our performance at 10:30. Everyone performed brilliantly and Stage 1 students did a great job staying focused, despite being in a totally new environment. Well done to everyone and a special thank you to Rob and Kate, our brilliant dance and drama teachers, for all their creative input. We will be back to school on Sunday 8th May ready to start our next project – we cannot wait!

Stagecoach Journalist Stagecoach Theatre Arts Oswestry student Calan has been attending our school for nearly a year and reports on his time at Stagecoach: "My name is Calan and I have been coming to Stagecoach in Oswestry for nearly a year. I am 6 years old so I am in Stage 1 with some of my friends who I met in Early Stages. I like going to Stagecoach because it's fun. We do singing, dancing and drama and my favourite is singing because we sing some really good songs and our teacher is good fun and everyone is really friendly and kind. I want to keep coming to Stagecoach as its fun and it helps me to be more confident. We are doing a performance on 24th April and even though I'm excited, I'm also a bit nervous, but I know when we have finished it I will be pleased and proud." What a lovely report Calan!

Stagecoach Journalist Stagecoach Theatre Arts Oswestry student Amy attends our Stage 2 classes and has been coming to our school for three years. Here Amy reports on her passion for singing: “In Stagecoach we do three activities. Acting (drama), dance and singing. My current favourite is singing. I have always enjoyed singing but I believe that I am a lot better at singing than I was before I started Stagecoach. We do lots of different types of songs and it allows you to discover new songs, or types of music that you'd never listened to before. In singing, we also go to the Oswestry light switch-on at Christmas every year in which we sing for the people of Oswestry town. We are taught all of our lessons in stages and I'm in Stage 2. Singing is amazing but drama and dance are great too - so you choose!” What a delightful report – thank you for sharing Amy!

Stagecoach Journalist Stagecoach Theatre Arts Oswestry student Eve attends our Stage 3 classes and will have been coming to our school for almost nine years in the Summer. Here she reports on her time at Stagecoach… "Going to Stagecoach opens up so many new opportunities. One thing we do annually at Stagecoach is the chance to take LAMDA exams. These are drama exams where we have to learn and stage monologues. This year I am doing grade 7 (Silver) and am in the final preparation stages. For this I have to learn 3 pieces - a Shakespeare, Period piece and a contemporary piece. Then we need to learn the content of the rest of the script in order to answer some questions given by the examiner on the day. Although the idea of exams may be daunting, we all know at Stagecoach that they will serve us well in the further and open up many new doors. And nothing is more satisfying than on results day and finding out how well everyone has done and seeing everyone smiling and happy that their hard work has paid off." Well done Eve!
