Music notation and text editing services. Donald Thomson, B.A. (Music Performance).

With well over 20 years' experience in music publishing, I can produce sheet music scores for any combination of instruments. I have worked for many of the UK's leading music publishers - Faber, Universal Music Publishers, Kevin Mayhew, the Royal School of Church Music, Queens Temple Publications and the Royal Academy of Dance. I am also an arranger with numerous publications to my name and have recently self-published a set of my own piano compositions.

I work with Sibelius music notation software and can also produce high-quality text pages (forewords, contents lists, composer's notes etc.) to give your music books a really professional appearance.

If you need orchestral parts, band parts, or simply a professional finish to your composition, please contact me to discuss your requirements.

In addition to music I am also available for text proofreading and editing. I recently copy-edited two children's novels for the Australian author Cathy Segal.

I am now back home after a whirlwind trip to the Music Expo in London. A fantastic opportunity to catch up with old friends I hadn't seen in years, meet new friends I've found through the wonders of social networking, and meet valued clients face to face for the first time. It was great to see everybody and I have come home with a real feeling of positivity and am hoping that some new strong working relationships will develop as a result. As I near the completion of my second year as a freelancer, it's so encouraging to feel this way. Thanks, everybody, for your continued support and please do keep sending the manuscripts my way. No job too big, too small, too simple or too challenging!

One of the high points of 2016 was being involved in the production of this superb collection of 20th century piano music, and it is now receiving the recognition it truly deserves. This article comes from February 2017's edition of The Pianist magazine.

St John Passion on Tuesday evening, Gershwin and folksongs on Wednesday, then a medley from 'Mamma Mia' tonight. Certainly playing a wide range of music for my three choirs!

It doesn't seem like a whole year since I stood up in front of over 80 people at Blackwell's Bookshop in Edinburgh to present my first published book, 'A Borders Suite' to the public. What a year it has been since then! 'A Hebrides Suite' followed in July, and I am currently working on 'Scottish Waters', the third book in the Celtic Piano Series. I am immensely proud and thankful to have been given this wonderful opportunity to write music describing the beautiful Scottish countryside.
