On Thursday, 24 of our fantastic Year 9 students attended the Brilliant Club Launch Trip to New College - Oxford University, to start their Scholars Programme. Throughout the day they attend both an IAG and study skills session before engaging in their very first tutorial based upon two supra curricula; "Pain, neuroscience and a good excuse to electrocute people" and "The Renaissance and its legacy: beauty, genius and revolution". The students additionally received a tour and was utterly inspired by the university, the undergraduate students and the overwhelming beautiful environment. It was an absolute pleasure to finally hear our students say "Yes, I am going for Oxford!!" with complete self-belief and confidence! The students were a credit to the Academy, not only from their impeccable behaviour but also from their participation. They had a brilliant time broadening their horizons, whilst also taking lots of pictures in the Harry Potter hot spots!
Year 7 PCE (Parent Consultation Evening) takes place Tuesday 30th January 2018 from 4pm-6.30pm. This is a prime opportunity to discuss progress with your son/daughter's subject teachers and note any areas for celebration and development. As this may be your first PCE with us, please report to reception where you will sign in. You will then be given a staff list and a map to show where the subjects will be. We try to keep subjects together at the front of school. For example, Maths, English and Science will be based in the Great Hall. Appointments are on a carousel basis and usually last for 5 minutes. We also stress that school uniform should be worn on the evening if your son/daughter should attend with you. At school, your son/daughter will be given an appointment sheet where they will ask their subject teachers a time to be seen. This will form your agenda for the evening. We look forward to seeing you.
