Aberdeen University Concert Band
Description
The Aberdeen University Concert Band is a community and university band which aims to include as many musicians from all musical backgrounds. We play a variety of pieces and styles and are always growing in repertoire and players. The Aberdeen University Concert Band is a collection of brass, woodwind and percussion players of all levels that regularly meets each week to rehearse and perform a vast repertoire of Concert Band Music. Our concerts range from holdiday-themed performances to casual [and serious] concerts put on for the benefit for whomever wants to attend from the Aberdeen area. The Band is affiliated with the University of Aberdeen and is a student-run organisation with backing from both the Student Association and the University Music Department. However, membership is not limited to students only and anyone wanting to join the organisation should come along to a rehearsal. There are no auditions, so whether you are a student, pupil, professional, retired, or even the heiress to a large fortune with excessive amounts of time to yourself, please come along and join us - all are welcome. Besides, it's certainly much better than letting your instrument sit in a dusty corner somewhere in your house!
We play all types of music that are suited for a wind ensemble (which is quite a lot) - from Classical pieces to Jazz, Showtunes to Film Scores, Military Band to Big Band, and nearly everything else in between.
