Soldiers from 33 Engineer Regiment EOD have deployed to Nigeria to deliver search awareness and bomb disposal training to the country’s Armed Forces. The 12-strong team from 58 Field Squadron (EOD) will work alongside the resident British Military Advisory and Training Team who deliver training programmes to all three services of the Nigerian Armed Forces.

Seven officers from the Desert Rats are concluding their time on Exercise United Accord, a US Army in Africa sponsored command post training exercise based on a UN peace-keeping mission. The exercise brings together 15 nations from across the West Africa - the region which the Brigade is regionally aligned to by the Army for Defence Engagement. Combined with personnel from America and five European countries, the exercise has been a fantastic cultural experience. Many of our officers have been fully integrated into multinational cells, planning and executing across two languages and 21 different cultures. The experience not only enhanced our cultural and military understand of our partner nations, but added to our ever strengthening bonds of friendship with our African brethren.

Soldiers from 2nd Battalion The Royal Anglian Regiment are learning and developing their Urban Warfare Training this week.
7th Infantry Brigade Operational Shooting Competition
Our units proved they had an eye for a challenge when they competeted in this year's Operational Shooting Competition. The two-day competition saw the units test their skills across eleven events. Each event assessed their fitness, accuracy and speed, skills essential on operational shooting. The competition was hard fought with 1st Battalion The Royal Anglian Regiment (The Vikings) emerging as the best regular unit overall and also scooping the Gold in the falling plate competition. The Royal Yeomanry was named as the best Reserve unit for the second year running and the 3 PWRR - The Tigers took the Reserves title in the Falling Plate Competition. Well done all.

2 The Royal Anglian Regiment in Nigeria
The 2nd Battalion The Royal Anglian Regiment - The Poachers have been working with British Military Advisory Training Team to provide Skill At Arms training to Nigerian soldiers. This is a part of the wider UK commitment to assist and enhance Nigerian force's capabilities to counter violent extremism.

Gainey Cup - Best Scout Squad Competition
A six man team from the 1st The Queen's Dragoon Guards has returned from the Gainey Cup, Best Scout Squad competition in Americia. The competition sees teams pushed to the limits over three days as their physical fitness, cavalry skills and team strategies are put to the test as they vie for the title of the Army Best Scout team. This was the first time the British Army had entered the competition. The QDG team, who can be seen around 38-seconds into the video, were placed 16th in a field of 24.
Our Desert Rat sculpture is on display at the National Army Museum. Prior to it going on display metalsmith Staff Sergeant Murrary carried out some minor repairs. Watch the film to find out more.
Royal Yeomanry
The Royal Yeomanry were on the right tack when they took part in the ICCY regatta this weekend.
1st Battalion The Royal Anglian Regiment (The Vikings)
A training team from B (Suffolk) Company 1st Battalion The Royal Anglian Regiment (The Vikings) has returned from Nigeria where they have been delivering infantry training to Nigerian military personnel preparing to tackle the extremist group Boko Haram. In its third and final week, the team delivered Live Firing Tactical Training for the Nigerians, and hosted a visit by a Nigerian 1* commander, who offered his sincere thanks to the Vikings for their commitment over the last two years in developing his troops.
2nd Battalion The Royal Anglian Regiment - The Poachers
Soldiers from D (Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire) Company 2nd Battalion The Royal Anglian Regiment - The Poachers are deployed to the Nigerian Army Depot where they are delivering a five-week training course that will develop the skills and knowledge of around 400 military instructors. The deployment is the latest in an ongoing British Army commitment to defence engagement in Nigeria.
