Community health and care NHS trust with 3,000 health and care professionals working across Norfolk and Suffolk. We're committed to looking after you locally. We exist to improve the lives of our patients, whenever and wherever they need us. We are proud to be trusted to enter their homes and be part of their communities.

At NCH&C we take our responsibility to our local communities very seriously.  We are dedicated to improving patients’ lives by providing excellent standards of NHS health and care.

What we do is most easily explained by saying we offer just about every community-based NHS health service you might need, from when you are six-weeks-old through to the end of your life.

And we pride ourselves on being able to offer our excellent health and care services where people most need it. Patients can receive our services within their own homes, places of care or residence, at schools or colleges as well as within our 12 community hospitals, many outpatient units, and within GP practices and health centres.

Read Mark's story

Good luck to two of our Marks who are gearing up for a 50 mile biking challenge; raising money for charity and as a way of celebrating their milestone birthdays! Service Lead Mark Walker, and Mark Adeney, Manager of Alder Ward, will be cycling the epic route as part of the Norwich 100/50/25 on Sunday 4th June, and as a way of marking their 50ths. The pair, who are raising money for the British Heart Foundation, said: “We need to prove our 50 year old hearts can do it! And in light of that we decided to raise money for the British Heart Foundation. “We’ve been in hard training too - well, getting up early on Sundays despite hangovers and overeating! But we’re determined to enjoy the day and get to the finish line. “Of course donations would be very welcome, but it would be great to see some friendly faces and hear some encouraging words along the route on the day too.” The event which starts at The Forum, Norwich will see cyclists travel out towards Reepham and through Coltishall before heading back to the finish line at Norwich’s Bishopsgate. We've been working to improve the experiences of our staff & patients to ensure equality and diversity is part of all our work every day. Our progress has been recognised by those involved in the work we do and those nationally. Maggie Green says “I have been a member of the Equality and Diversity group in its various guises for many years as both a professional and as an expert user. It has always been a positive group; however my experience is that over the past 18 months there has been a really positive and proactive approach to the complex diversity issues facing the organisation. Some fantastic improvements in both the delivery and development of services within the trust have been made making a real difference to patients, users and staff. I am excited to see what the next year brings.” NCH&C Staffside said: “Equality at work and in society as a whole is a fundamental aspect of modern Trade Union activity. Your Staffside representatives are fully committed to the aims and objectives of the Equality and Diversity Committee and to working in partnership with the Trust to fulfill those objectives.

Staff survey: 1 in 2 staff responded to the survey and we are really grateful you took the time to respond and provide us with your views and feedback. Detailed information about the results have been shared with the Board, Trust Management Team, Locality Management Teams and Trade Unions at Staff Management Council. Following this, the Trust has agreed a number of initial Trust Wide Actions – more may follow as the work progresses.

Dear Colleagues Thank you for your hard work and support during the cyberattack. The NCH&C exposure has been low because we have invested in technology, we have upgraded our systems, and we have clinical business continuity plans in place to protect our patients. We have also been running a Cybersecurity awareness campaign (Check to Protect) with Trust Board and all staff since February 2017. Next steps: Mobile workers are asked to come in to site and touch down (ie plug in with a network cable) during Monday at their convenience. An upgrade will have been applied already and this is to check all is well. Any issues please call the IT service desk or come to see us in Woodlands House. IT personnel will be on site in St James and North Walsham. A small minority of people who have not visited site recently will not have the upgrade applied. As a precaution these devices have been disabled, and when you try and log in you will be locked out. If this happens please call us and it can be fixed over the phone if you are at one of our sites. As a precaution external emails and remote access will remain off until we check in at 10am on Monday. All else is working as normal and staff at all sites can work normally.

NCH&C Staff and Services Here at NCH&C, staff are currently able to work, and our community services are continuing to alleviate pressure on our partners in the region during the international cyberattack. Staff are able to use SystmOne and other clinical services, and can send internal emails and use fax to email. Telephones are also working for phone calls and texts. Mobile workers who use mobile devices are advised to come to a site or a touch down hub. Until the additional security is complete and email has been scanned, external email and remote access will remain off. NCH&C Risk Management The NCH&C exposure has been low because we have invested in technology, we have upgraded our systems, and we have clinical business continuity plans in place to protect our patients. We have also been running a Cybersecurity awareness campaign (Check to Protect) with Trust Board and all staff since February 2017. Current measures in place and looking ahead · Teams have been on site all weekend checking our NCH&C exposure levels – we have completed an audit of desktops, laptops, and supporting central infrastructure. · Precautionary upgrades on central infrastructure are underway. Until these are complete, external email services are disabled. · We have added another layer of security in our email and we are scanning all email stores to detect and quarantine if there is a virus in an email which has not yet been opened. · We have identified 250 assets which have not connected to our network and have not received the upgrade automatically. Existing policy states mobile workers must touch down at our sites every month and we are planning for Monday. · The aim is to fully resume normal service as soon as possible.
