The lake is alive. Plenty of fry all around the edge of the lake making good fun for the kids to try and catch with a net. Food for the grebes and the kingfishers will be happy for the next few weeks. A great chance for you to sit and watch them. The reeds being planted no doubt helping with fish spawning and offering some cover for the survivors in the early stages to then encourage plenty of other wildlife to stay on the lake. More work planned from the fishing members over the rest of the year and next to bring even more life to the lake.

Another stocked fish doing the numbers! What an absolute peach! I caught this fish in July 17 at a weight of 22lb and since then has continued to grow into a this!

A better picture to show you all of one of the stocked fish which has thrived in the lake. Growing steadily over the last 3 years and averaging over 5lb in weight each year, this autumn could get really interesting if that trend continues.

Biggest in the pack! Our first stocked fish going over 32lb. Since stocking as a 17lb carp in 2015 this fish has virtually doubled in size and being only 7 years old who knows where it’ll end 👊👊

Some carp are harder than others. Check out this fish. Once upon a time it decided to take on a speed boat...... obviously it won and has mended very well over the last couple of years! Hard as Nails! 😂

It is such a great feeling looking at photos of the fish you stocked growing on well and giving pleasure to anglers once again on the lake. This year has seen a huge number of the stocked carp growing on well and into the mid 20s as this brace of 24lb and 27lb show. Both of which were fish stocked at around 5lb. And were some of the smaller fish stocked into the lake. With an average growth rate of 4lb-5lb year on year, 2019 looks very promising for the fishing and will almost certainly see the first of the stocking reaching the 30lb plus barrier. Good Angling Andy and great to see these fish doing so well.
