Re-live the days of the steam railway at Stephenson Railway Museum in North Shields. The Museum is home to George Stephenson's 'Billy' engine, and we hold lots of free events throughout the year.
Stephenson Railway Museum is open every weekend from 1 April to 31 October, and open seven days a week during the school holidays (except Christmas holidays). Our opening hours are always 11am to 4pm and entry is free! A small charge applies to train rides on our heritage railway.

The weather is looking fairly decent today. Why not pop down to the museum for a heritage train ride? The first train is at 11.30am and they run until 3pm.
If you've not made up your mind what to do this weekend, then bring the kids along and have a go at building a mini brick engine and then test it to see whose creation is the quickest on the time trial track. There are heritage train rides on Sunday too.
