** WHERE IT ALL BEGAN ** If you think the recent weather has been extreme it's nothing compared to the UK's Big Freeze of 1962/63 when it got so cold the sea froze in some parts of the country! But out of adversity came something pretty wonderful. Farmhouse Biscuits was born! Founders Dorothy and Philip McIvor weren't going to let a bit of snow and ice stop them from earning a living. With their farm suffering as a result of the extreme cold they started to sell their produce – including Dorothy's delicious biscuits – at Blackburn Market in Lancashire. The good people of Blackburn and surrounding districts couldn't get enough of the McIvor family's tasty biscuits, so the family decided to give up farming and concentrate on making Farmhouse Biscuits.
