Matlock Wado-Kai Karate Club is run on Thursday nights from 6-8pm In the sports hall of  the Whitworth Centre in Darley Dale. Its great fun and exercise for children and adults alike and if you are new to the club your first lesson is completely free! The Club was originally founded in the mid 1970's by Sensei Ray Taylor. Ray gained his black belt in 1982 and successfully led the club until a shoulder injury forced him into retirement in 1988 and Sensei John Redfern took the reins of the club. in 1989 Matlock Karate Club was asked to become an associate of the Wado Aiwakai Karate Do Federation. This was an exiting opportunity which enabled students to train with Sensei Sakagami (7th)  one of the best wado instructors in the UK and an advantage that the students still benefit from today.

The Club today is owned by Sensei John Redfern (3rd Dan) with help from Senior Students Lauren Henriksen and Sam Brassington. It costs £5 per lesson every Thursday Night at The Whitworth Centre in Darley Dale, with your very first night free!
