Thanks for all the lovely comments. Quite simply, there was not enough business in the village to make it sustainable. We have been speaking to prospective buyers but in the end they came to the same conclusion as us - whilst the coffee shop was valued, it was not financially viable. A few people have asked if doing hot food would have made a difference and first of all, we didn't want a café, we wanted a coffee shop and secondly, hot food sales would not have covered the extra expense of fitting out the kitchen, power and mostly, paying trained staff to cook food. Sara and I have no regrets. We tried to do something nice in a village we have lived in for 17 years and it didn't work out. We did this with our own money so we have not gone bankrupt and all our staff and suppliers have been paid so we have no regrets. It was lovely to get to know our regulars and our staff have been fantastic. Thanks again.

We are sad to announce that Dugs Mugs has now closed down. It became clear to us that it was no longer viable for the amount of time, effort and money we had put into the business. We would genuinely like to thank our loyal customers who have become friends and our fantastic neighbour, Steve, who has been so supportive in our time in the coffee shop.
