Mandalay Christmas 2018 opening hours...we are only closed Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year's Day.

Apologies for delays at the moment. Our main chef is away in China for another two weeks at his son's wedding and May is having to cook the food. Your understanding of the situation would be appreciated. Thank you.

We are currently having problems with our phone line...we can call out OK but unfortunately you can't call in. The phone company has been contacted but as it is a weekend we do not expect a quick response. Apologies.

For those of you who have still doubted us our hygiene rating has now been officially updated :)

NULBC has just awarded Mandalay a "generally satisfactory" hygiene rating of 3. Marks were awarded as follows (out of 30 with 0 being the best and 30 the worst) [1] Compliance with food hygiene & safety procedures - 5 [2] Compliance with structural requirements - 10 [3] Confidence in management procedures - 10 The only issues they had were, [1] Storage of food in fridge located in rear storage area is not permitted - the food is in a lockable fridge and is always kept closed so do not understand their concern. Further advise will be taken as I'm sure walk-in fridges can even be installed outdoors without issue. [2] Potato room sealant on walls - they silicon sealant used at the top of the newly installed plastic panels is not smooth enough and therefore cannot be cleaned according to the inspector! We have just fitted washable plastic panelling, fixed all of the floor tiles, painted the walls and bought a brand new chipper but they moan about the quality of the sealant! [3] Cooked meat temperatures to be checked - this will be randomly checked as requested...currently checked but not recorded on a check sheet. [4] Covering of food with paper is not permitted - for brief periods clean chip paper is used to prevent contamination but this is not allowed. Cling film or equal will now be used. This is what we have to deal with. Any of our customers are welcome to read the letter as we have nothing to hide :) I hope this serves to stop the current rumours circulating the area.
