Good and bad news on the bacon front. Our bacon isn't going to be ready this weekend, I'm afraid, due to the large size of the beast, meaning longer curing time. It will be ready mid week. The good news is there will be more of it to go around.

Freshly made today: Open from 11:00 Tuesday. The ultimate free range chicken. We have sold out of produce completely today, but never fear we will have fresh pork and sausages from Tuesday (closed Monday for sausage making). Tomorrow we have wild Lake District pheasants available at £5 a brace (2). If you have never eaten pheasant before it tastes like a more flavoursome chicken.

So far today I have chased the same pig around the yard 3 times and climbed over 3 fences to avoid being charged at by the bulls to get to the nutty sheep to make it pull its own head out of the fence!

Our chickens are working very hard to provide you with delicious fresh eggs,but unfortunately nature dictates that this time of the year they moult. They lose their feathers and all their energy goes into making new ones and not into making eggs. They are still laying but not as many so please bear with us and they will be back up to speed soon. We don't buy our eggs in; we wait for them to be laid.
