Urmston Bookshop
Description
Urmston Bookshop is a local independent book seller based in Urmston, Manchester. We are a community based shop supporting local charities and school. Welcome to the website of Urmston Bookshop which opened in October 2010. We are Frances & Peter Hopkins and we are still very excited about our new venture which has proved to be a great addition to Urmston town centre. We stock a range of titles for both adults and children together with specialist cards, stationery, gifts and many other educational toys and games.
Our bijou(that’s another word for small!) cafe serves a variety of hot and cold drinks and also some delicious home-made cakes and cookies.
We both intend to remain very active members in the Urmston community. Frances has spent most of her career working in Trafford, firstly, as a children’s librarian and for the past 25 years as a teacher. Peter is an accountant (very useful!) but has recently been teaching accounting at The Manchester College. He also comes from a literary family with his dad (Billy Hopkins) and his sister (Cathy Hopkins) both very successful authors.
We also have a meeting room with an SMART Interactive board. This room is used for all different events from story times, author visits, book clubs to photographic exhibitions. Several schools have also used the room for book based staff meeting and in-service training.
We look forward to meeting you soon!
Frances & Peter
