Welcome to Leather for Living, established in the lively fishing port of Mallaig in 2014.  I've been an importer of leathergoods from Nepal for a number of years and am now combining this with manufacture of leather articles myself.  Many of the handtools and techniques that I use come from Nepal where I worked as a trainer during the 1980-90s.  Whereas there the leatherworkers had to collect their rawhides and tan the leather in small pits, I buy my hides ready tanned.  However, like them, I prefer to use natural vegetable tanned leather, as this allows greater scope for the creative effects I want to achieve.
