Exhibition/course finish on Friday and the Zen Lounge is busy; Jonny's making a rocking chair, Tim's a one-man production line working on six music stands, Simon's sanding and finishing and Alex is dancing. Just sad that all good things must come to an end.

It's tough working in the big building on the left, but it's half past three and nearly time for tea... beach anyone?

Glorious summer today on Monmouth Beach, Lyme Regis. Getting together as many boats/canoes/paddleboards as we can for lunchtime on the water.
Robotic Fabrications
The Architectural Association are running a Robotic Fabrications short course at Hooke Park in Dorset. Fascinating and not without interest in terms of using the technology in wooden boat production. One of our Instructors will be there. http://roboticfabrications.aaschool.ac.uk/

Boat Building Academy graduate Tony has built this beautiful Selway Fisher ‘Lillie’ canoe yawl. It’s a stitch and tape construction and the timber used was Iroko, Mahogany and Douglas fir, with the spars in Sitka spruce. Tony begun construction on Amy Jean in December 2009, and proceeded intermittently in the gaps between bursts of real life (even retirement is busy!). The six and a half year project was full of interest, with a fresh challenge around every corner. Tony says there’s still more to be done on the varnishing – maybe another half-dozen coats on top of the existing eight! We wish him all the best on this fantastic project.
