The Irish Davis Cup team was announced this week . Ireland were promoted to the Europe/Africa Group II last year The No 1 player Peter Bothwell a seasoned David cup player and his younger brother Sam (who received his first selection this year) supported the Dunedin tournament in Lurgan all over the years . The team consists of Peter Bothwell , Simon Carr, Osgar O’Hoisin, Julian Bradley and Sam Bothwell Simon Carr will get proceedings underway on Saturday 3rd February when he takes on Frederik Nielsen who is making his 40th appearance for Denmark in the Davis Cup. This match will be followed by Ireland’s no 1 player Peter Bothwell versus the Danish no 2 Søren Hess-Olesen. Peter was notably Dunedin champion in his U18 year and It’s such a delight for us to see them both now represent Ireland vs Denmark . We wish both local boys and all the Irish Team success in their matches this weekend . Peter second from left and Sam far right in photo . Captain Conor Niland
See a few photos from the enjoyable and informative Disability awareness training at the club last night . Everyone who attended certainly gained a lot of knowledge in this area . Thanks to Ryan Mc Qullian and Mark Montgomery from DSNI who delivered the training and all the attendees who made this night so enjoyable .
And there’s more of our all inclusive tennis group ... playing ‘ Jail ‘ the game all tennis players love 👍🎾💕
And some photos
Folks some video and and photos of our disability group who tried tennis for the first time today ... the students and the coaches had a great time and achieved so much . Alex did a wonderful job pitching the class perfectly to make it enjoyable but also all the goals achievable for the students . Thanks so much to Karen and Frank for helping out . The extra hands helped to make the class run very smoothly . We should all be very proud of what we have achieved with this programme .
Great new programme for all abilities at Lurgan tennis club . Contact Jackie to register a place .
