Beautiful Bob would like to share her story with you. After needing emergency surgery to remove stones stuck in her intestines, Bob had a difficult recovery. The whole team has put a lot of time, effort and TLC into nursing Bob back to health. One of our fabulous vets even sat up all night with Bob after her surgery. Today, we are delighted to have discharged Bob back to her parents -who have been coming in to visit her every afternoon, bringing tempting treats to encourage her to eat. We'll miss your super waggy tail Bob and hope you'll pop in and visit us soon!

HIGH TICK RISK According to this information Norfolk and Suffolk are High Risk Tick areas. As well as being a problem for your pets, ticks can transmit some nasty diseases to humans. If your pet has a tick embedded in its skin please either remove it carefully with a tick hook (these work really well, are easy to use and available from all our surgeries) or make an appointment for us to remove it for you. Don't forget we can give you personalised advice about parasite control for your pets - give us a ring to find out more - 01508 530686. More information can be also found at www.bigtickproject.co.uk

GRASS SEED ALERT Injuries to dogs caused by grass seeds are very common at this time of year and can be the cause of much discomfort and pain. Many grasses have pointed, barbed or arrow shaped seeds and these can become lodged between the toes, in the ears or other areas of the body. Once a seed has made contact it can pierce the skin and work through the tissues burying deep in to the body. In the worst cases the seeds can ‘migrate’ or move around the body. It has been known for grass seeds to track from a paw, up the leg and into the body cavity. Locating the seed can become a major veterinary challenge as they are very small and do not show up on X-rays. Dogs with hairy feet are commonly affected. Some of the obvious symptoms are: pain, lameness, licking and biting the areas, swelling and redness and persistent head shaking in the case of the ears. Please be vigilant and check your dog thoroughly after walks and if possible avoid areas of long grass. If you suspect your dog may have a grass seed injury, please bring them in for an appointment as soon as possible to prevent further complications.
