Hey, soul brothers and soul sisters! You are all (cordially) invited to the House of Bamboo's Christmas extravaganza at the Portico Gallery, West Norwood, this December the 9th. There is sure to be lots of soul, crackers, soul, tinsel, paper hats, soul, soul and lots more SOUL. We've had an amazing year and I think you will agree that you have been an amazing, supportive crowd. Get on down to the Portico whether northern soul, Motown or modern soul (we aren't afraid to play a bit of John Newman at the House of Bamboo!) is your thing. Plenty more exciting announcements to come but, once again, all we ask if that you part with five of your English pounds at the door (7pm til midnight) and throw yourself into the festivities. It's going to be a great night. Your usual repertoire of house DJs (Adam Jenkins + Tom Ambrose + Dave Diston + Neil Stroud) will provide the tunes, with some special guests TBA. See you all out on the floor for one last spin in 2017. KTF x

And to follow that up, what better than an all star highlights reel from a magical evening?! We had some brilliant dancers gracing our talc-dusted floor last night. Can you see yourself? Thanks again to those who came from as far afield as Dorset, it was another AMAZING night and we are delighted to confirm we are back for a Christmas extravaganza on DECEMBER 9TH. But, for now, here is the (last) night that was... KTF

Just wanted to say a massive thank you to all who came last night. Was great to see some new faces as well as some old friends and the two guest DJs Jacob Flack and Martin Grover were amazing. Looking forward to having them both back again next year as well as some other special guests. Great night and a busy dance floor and we appreciate your continual support. See you again on December 9th.

Well it's that time again when we'd like to show the kind of sounds that we love to play at HoB. This 1967 track is just crazy and a typical example of the late 60's craze from dance inspired tracks. That deep voice and catchy beat is hard to resist as a dancer.

Another instalment of the kind of tracks we love at House of Bamboo. This amazing Dobie Gray track from 1965 is a real classic. Overplayed in the eighties and know note for note by many it's often overlooked on a night out. But....close your eyes and imagine that this is the first time you've heard this track. If you can do that then you'll remember why you first fell in love with it and why it was on every turn table in every club up and down the land. Out on the floor...we will be when this is played...KTF

Well it's time for another instalment of the kind of tunes we love to play at House of Bamboo, West Norwood. This mid sixties smasher is by Mr Jerry Willaims and is a big sound on the Northern Soul scene. What's not to like? Great intro...strings....fantastic lyrics and of course Mr Williams voice! Hard to resist dancing to this fantastic track and why should you.....KTF.

The second instalment of the kind of tracks that we love at House of Bamboo Soul Club. This 1967 track from the brilliant Roy Hamilton is a sure fire floor filler. Mr Hamilton had some success from the mid 50's to the late 60's but never achieved the acclaim that he rightly deserved. Combining his unique singing style of both classical and gospel styles he made some truly amazing soul records. Sadly he passed away at the young age of 40, but he left us with a whole host of timeless songs.....KTF.
