The London Symphony Orchestra is one of the world’s top orchestras. Our home is at the Barbican in the City of London, where we perform over 80 concerts every year. Hope to see you there sometime! Community Guidelines
We love to hear from our friends and encourage you to post your thoughts and feelings about the LSO, our concerts, events, CDs, tours, musicians, staff and other related things on our page. Ask us a question, we'll try and answer it (as long as it's not about the meaning of life or advanced quantum physics)!

But if you want to post about your own page or advertise something that's not related to the LSO at all, then we're really sorry, but we don't allow this and will remove your post. We wish everyone luck with their own concerts and musical groups, but our page isn't really the best place to advertise them.

And if you're a spammer or your comment is libellous or offensive to individuals within the LSO, your post will be removed and you will be banned, with no questions asked!

Happy posting everyone, and thanks for being around. You make Facebook a great place to be!

Celebrating 15 years on Old Street today! On 27 March 2003 we opened the doors of LSO St Luke's after a long and delicate transformation from a derelict church. 15 years later it's a thriving music education centre and venue, and we celebrated tonight with a concert by our brilliant LSO Discovery Choirs, full of young singers from our local area. Happy 15th birthday LSO St Luke's! May the corridors be ever echoing with the sound of music.

Looking back to the weekend before last, when over the span of a weekend we hosted an incredible array of talented poets, instrumentalists, composers, poets, rappers and singers at LSO St Luke's. Firstly on the Saturday, Jasmin Kent Rodgman brought together celebrated artists from the UK's music and spoken word scenes with LSO musicians in HUH, the first of our new Jerwood Composer+ scheme collaborations. And on the Sunday we heard eight new orchestral works rehearsed by the LSO and François-Xavier ROTH, conductor (with a little help from George Jackson!) written by our current Panufnik Composers. These photos were all taken by Kevin Leighton.

If you thought being an orchestral musician was easy, RHOD GILBERT proves otherwise when he meets the BBC National Orchestra of Wales... Absolutely hilarious, especially the endless composer-based puns! https://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b09ymv72/rhod-gilberts-work-experience-series-8-1-classical-musician

Susanna Mälkki is back with us next month, a year after making her debut with the LSO in dramatic fashion, stepping in at the last minute for an indisposed Valery Gergiev. We had a nice long chat with her all about playing the cello, her Finnishness, working with Daniel Müller-Schott and her advice for young conductors. https://lso.co.uk/more/blog/902-susanna-malkki.html
