I was born in Ethiopia, but we were from Eritrea. So when the war broke out they started deporting people. When I applied for asylum the documents at the Home Office said that I was stateless. I’d never heard of that before. Rooba's story continues in our blog http://south-london-refugee-association.tumblr.com/

My Life in South London Is a photographic project by our clients. What is it like to be a refugee or an asylum seeker in South London in 2016? Working in collaboration with photographer and journalist James Hopkirk, we gave four of our clients cameras (loaned very kindly by Brixton charity Photovoice) and asked them to share their experiences. James ran workshops offering storytelling and photography advice – but our clients decided what stories they wanted to tell, and it is their photographs and words we present here. We're proud to publish these unique photo stories in our blog – we hope you find them as enlightening and moving as we have.
