Sougtani
Description
Sougtani is the name of a Berber Tribe belonging to The Great Atlas Mountains in Morocco and was distinguished for many centuries by the unfailing solidarity of its members. Its scholars and warriors used traditional cuisine to form alliances with neighboring tribes, enabling the tribe to extend its influence and control over the entire south side of the Atlas Mountains. As a result, they had large areas of land favourable to the growth of its livestock farming and grain farming.
Mohamed Sougtani was the head of the Sougtani tribe and was regarded with honour and prestige in the family. He died in 1968 without leaving any descendants and it is now up to us, his nephews, to revive these places full of history by sharing our traditional cuisine.
