MARVELLOUS MARVIN Senior Border Terrier Marvin came into our care as a stray but sadly no owner came for him. We found a lovely foster home for Marvin and were delighted to wave goodbye to him today as he started his new life. OH MY WORD We were thrilled to receive a lovely update on beautiful Wispa. Remember when she came in to our care as an abandoned puppy? She had mites, bad ears and eyes, and painful sores all over her little body. She is now living her best life with her Hope Rescue brother Barney. When times are tough this is what gets us through ❤️

SCORES ON THE DOORS FOR JULY Our monthly stray contract stats are in which we use as a reminder for everyone to check their dogs microchip. Sadly nothing changes though and non-compliance remains static with only 15% to 20% of dogs each month complying with the mirochipping legislation. It's been a record breaking month for July. We took in a total of 49 stray dogs through our stray dog contracts for Rhondda Cynon Taf CBC, Bridgend CBC and Vale of Glamorgan Council (West). Shockingly, only 8 dogs out of 49 were microchipped with up to date ownership details. 23 were microchipped but the details were not up to date, and 2 had a microchip that wasn't registered. 16 were not microchipped at all. Sadly 22 dogs did not go home to their owners and passed in to our care for rehoming. Please, ensure you check that your dogs microchip details are up to date. This can be done on-line for most chip companies.Your vet can scan for you if you do not have the chip number or details of the chip company. There is no excuse for any dog not to be microchipped as it is now a legal requirement. Sadly we get a lot of abuse both on-line and in person from owners reclaiming their dogs and not being happy with the costs. If the dog warden cannot get hold of you due to your dog not being chipped or the details being out of date that is your fault, not ours. Please also remember it is the law for your dog to wear a collar and tag when out. This is the quickest and easiest way for your dog to be reunited if it goes missing.
