On Thursday 12th May “Sparks” a Charity involved with children’s medical research, celebrated their 25th Anniversary at a private viewing of the Inspired exhibition. They invited over 100 of their key supporters who were treated to champagne and canapés. Fundraising was enhanced by a raffle which included several pieces of silver, and a superb neckpiece generously donated by Daphne Krinos. The evening was a huge success, and the exhibits and exhibition space were clearly much admired. See the photos here https://flic.kr/s/aHskA1mkHR

We recently participated in the Inspired 2016 Exhibition held in the excellent exhibition space at the Goldsmiths’ Centre in Farringdon. The exhibition provided visitors with an excellent choice of silver, and contemporary furniture, all shown in a delightful airy space. Three private viewings proved popular, and the invited guests, enjoyed wine and canapes in the convivial surroundings of the Centre. There was no doubt in my opinion that this was the best of these silver/contemporary furniture Exhibitions (this is the fourth such exhibition) with quality silver and enamel pieces available for the Collector, and some gorgeous furniture – perfect for the contemporary setting. Gordon and Angela Hamme deserve congratulation for their significant efforts in pulling this exhibition together so well, and for improving the exhibitor mix and modifying the guest listings to provide a successful exhibition. John Higgins Contemporary Silver were successful in selling silverware by Rod Kelly, and Silver and enamel pieces from Jane Short and Hiroshi Suzuki. During the private viewings, we also had around 40 pieces of jewellery from Kayo Saito, Jane Adam and Daphne Krinos, which proved very popular with visitors. Jane Short's new Tapered beaker with a Bridget Riley inspired-design sold easily, as did the "tub" shaped enamelled "fish scale" beaker. Rod Kelly made 2 new beakers for the exhibition; the tapered beaker "Northern Lights" is one of a pair and we sold a pair to an overseas client. Harrier Hawk in the wind is still available, either singly or as a pair. Thank you to everyone who came.

Exciting new piece by Phil Barnes which will be at Inspired 2016. A Sterling Silver tapered beaker, the outside of which has been COMPLETELY carved and engraved by hand with a scene called 'Oh I do like to be beside the seaside'. The scene is based around the seaside in Southwold and Walberswick, with its beach huts, crab pools, the pier, buckets and spades, sandcastles with their flags. The detail is AMAZING, and represents 350 hours of (painstaking) work. A museum-quality piece, and winner of a Gold Award for hand engraving by the 2016 Goldsmiths’ Craft and Design Council.
