Today, Becky came to the smithy to make a shepherds crook lantern holder for her garden. We had a ball and got the job done.

So I was doing a little craft fair at a local village hall when this old guy walks up and says.... You n me babe, how'bout it.... Ermm no he didn't.. I slipped into Dire Straits mode there. No he said can you make springs... Not my area of expertise responds I (like I have ANY area of expertise!) . Upshot is he needed a replacement for one on a 200 year old rocking chair.... I must be bloody crackers, but it's done.

A few of us happy blacksmiths at this year's GYS. Stephen Lunn, me In my stewards white coat! and young Jacob. There we're over a dozen Smith's taking turns at 5 forges and anvils. We had a ball. Some beautiful things were made and plenty of laughs and story telling. Brilliant

We are back at the Great Yorkshire Show next week. Some of the best Artist Blacksmiths in the country will be there, working and to talk to. Come along watch us working red hot metal and for goodness sake talk to us, or even better buy us a beer!!! We are opposite the beer tent, so handy for buying us a beer, The Worshipful Company of Blacksmiths. Xx

Ermmmm, that will be the starting capacitor on my forge blower that's faulty then!

So I'm packed n ready to do a demo day at the Malton show tomorrow. That's gonna be fun in 30 odd degree heat!!!!

So I'm ready for Malton show next weekend. The latest portable forge is up n running. Audi catalytic converter blower, homemade speed controller and a leisure battery!!!

A great day today. Two of my great mates came to mine to play on the forge and wood turning lathe. David made a Dutch oven lid lifter including turned wooden handles. Phil made a firesteel I couldn't believe that he has watched me make hundreds at shows, he'd never made one. As aways, if you make one with me you don't go home without lighting a fire with it. Half a dozen strikes against flint, good charcloth... Fire!!! Simple pleasures, creating things with great mates... Priceless...
