It was originally built as an Inn for those travelling between Glasgow and Edinburgh and for locals who wanted to enjoy the stunning countryside along the River Avon.
The Applebank Inn is situated in the heart of the Morgan Glen, one of the most stunning settings in this area of Scotland. The Morgan Glen has riverside walks through some of the finest parts of the ancient Clyde Valley woodlands - and has been designated as a Site of Special Scientific Interest in Scotland and a European Special Area for Conservation.
Visitors to the area can also ramble through miles of stunning gorge walks towards Chatelherault Country Estate along the River Avon and through ancient woodland, some of which are the oldest in the country. The area is home to a wide range of wildlife including roe deer, badgers, otters, kingfishers and many more.
